Sosensky ( _ru. Сосенский) is a town in
Kozelsky District ofKaluga Oblast ,Russia , located in the southeastern part of the oblast, km to mi|90 south-west ofKaluga , the administrative center of the oblast, and km to mi|10 fromKozelsk , the administrative center of the district. Population: 12,300 (2006 est.);fact|date=March 2008 ru-census|p02=12623|p89=13275It was founded in April 1952 as the coal-mining settlement of Tsentralny Kozelskogo Stroyupravleniya ( _ru. Центра́льный Козе́льского стройуправле́ния). On
January 27 ,1954 it was granted status ofurban-type settlement and renamed Leninsky ( _ru. Ленинский); however, for an unknown reason it was renamed Shepelevsky ( _ru. Шепелевский) onApril 5 ,1954 and finally Sosensky onApril 10 ,1954 . It was granted town status in 1991.References
