World War II , the family farm was occupied by German troops and later by Russian forces. The family hid two youngJewish men despite dailyGestapo searches. Raymond was running messages for thePolish underground when he was 14.After the war, when the communist government wanted him to enlist in the

He worked as a bus dispatcher in
Washington, D.C. until completing hismaster's degree inpolitical science from the University of Maryland in1961 . He earned adoctorate in political science fromAtlanta University .He taught at
Hampton Institute , theCollege of William and Mary andVirginia Commonwealth University .Founded publishing company
In
1967 , he and his wife foundedBrunswick Publishing Corp., initially so he could publish his mammoth volume now called the "Dictionary of Politics, Selected American and Foreign Political and Legal Terms".Awards
In 1991, he was honored with the
