The former was designed for theGreat Eastern Railway byAlfred John Hill and the latter for the Great Northern Railway by SirNigel Gresley . In the
United States however, 0-6-2 locomotives were largely2-6-0 type locomotives that had been rebuilt with a larger firebox and therefore required greater weight distribution near their backs hence theleading wheel s were moved in the position oftrailing wheel s.
