7 Avenue Refurbishment
As part of the 7th Avenue refurbishment project, the 6 Street Southwest platform was closed on April 7th, 2008 to allow the construction of a new platform on its site, which can accommodate 4-car trains. An official date for the resumption of service to 6 Street Southwest has not yet been disclosed, but civic officials suggest that the 6 Street Southwest platform will be reopened sometime in February 2009. As of August 22nd, 2008, the new platform deck has started to be installed on the 6th Street SW Station. The 7th Street SW station is further along, and the canopy over the platform has been erected and installation of glass has begun.
