Saanich North and the Islands

Saanich North and the Islands is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. It is located in the northern suburbs of the provincial capital, Victoria, and includes the southern Gulf Islands.

Member of Legislative Assembly

Its MLA is Hon. Murray Coell, a former mayor of Saanich. He was first elected in 1996. He represents the British Columbia Liberal Party. Mr. Coell was appointed Minister of Community, Aboriginal and Women’s Services on January 26, 2004. After re-election in 2005, he was appointed Minister of Advanced Education and Minister responsible for Research and Technology.
