Right - 353'Alexian Field is a
stadium inSchaumburg, Illinois . It is primarily used forbaseball andcricket , and is the home field of theSchaumburg Flyers minor league baseball team. Alexian Field opened in 1999 and holds 6,000 people. Its field dimensions mimic those of Chicago'sWrigley Field , and the land the stadium is built on was originally purchased in the mid-1980's as a hopeful site for the New Wrigley Field, should theCity of Chicago and theChicago Cubs not come to terms to bring night baseball to the North Side. Some prolacrosse as well as professional andamateur softball has also been played at Alexian Field due to the late start (mid-May) of the Northern League's season. Alexian Field also has one of the most world-renowned grounds crews. They were once led by Jesse Blake but now they are anchored by B-Rad Joniack for the 08' season. Brian Sorrentino, Tommy Shea, Jarrett LaBerg, and Eric Lancaster round out the rest of the grounds crew. The Flyers are also a home of professional bat boys Billy Shea and Darren Kent. The Stadium itself is located west of
I-355 off theElgin-O'Hare Expressway . Originally called Schaumburg Baseball Stadium, theAlexian Brothers Medical Center in nearby Elk Grove purchased the naming rights to the ballpark in 2000.External links
