- Ben J. Tarbutton
Ben J. Tarbutton was a businessman and politician in Georgia. Born in
Sandersville, Georgia , he was educated at Emory College inOxford, Georgia . After working in his father's mercantile business, he purchased theSandersville Railroad in 1916, and was the president and director of theCentral of Georgia Railroad from 1951 to 1954. He was mayor of Sandersville from 1947 to 1951, a memberGeorgia State Senate from 1947 to 1948 and of theGeorgia House of Representatives from 1949 to 1954, and a member of the Georgia delegation to theDemocratic National Convention in 1952 and 1956.
