Caren Marie Alexius Kemner (born
April 16 ,1965 inQuincy, Illinois ) is a retired femalevolleyball player from theUnited States , who won the bronze medal with the USA National Women's Team at the1992 Summer Olympics inBarcelona, Spain . She also competed at the1988 Summer Olympics and at the1996 Summer Olympics , finishing in seventh place.Named "Most Valuable Player" at the 1987 NORCECA Championships an a six-time recipient of USOC Female Volleyball Athlete of the Year (1986, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991, and 1992) Kemner compiled 66 kills, 18 blocks and passed a team-leading 119 serves in five matches at the 1988 Summer Olympics in
Seoul, South Korea .Nominated for the 1990 and 1991
Sullivan Award , presented annually to the outstanding amateur athlete in the country, she maintained her status among world's elite at '90 FIVB Super Four tournament in Japan -- garnered all-tournament honors by leading competition in passing, and placing third in hitting and fourth in blocking.She was tabbed "Most Valuable Player" and "Most Outstanding Player" at 1991 World Cup, where United States qualified for '92 Olympics. In the same year Kemner was named to the World All-Star squad and helped the team sweep a pair of matches from Soviet Union at the '91 World Gala, tallying 36 kills in the two matches. She is also a five-time winner of the USA team MVP Award.
