Quincy Notre Dame High School is a Roman Catholic co-educational high school in Quincy, Illinois in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, serving students in grades 9-12.
History
The school traces its history back to 1859, when a local bishop invited the School Sisters of Notre Dame to teach in the town. First known as the Convent School of Infant Jesus, it was chartered by the state in 1873 as the Saint Mary Institute.
For most of its history, Notre Dame was a girls' school. From 1940 to 1959 it temporarily accepted male students after the closure of the Quincy College Academy. In 1959, a boys' school was split off into Christian Brothers High School, which changed its name to Catholic Boys High School in 1970. In 1976 the schools re-merged and became the current Notre Dame High School.
