UO-9 (aka
AMSAT OSCAR -9, or the University of Surrey's UoSAT-1) was an amateursatellite built at theUniversity of Surrey and launched intolow Earth orbit onOctober 6 1981 . It exceeded its planned orbital lifespan by at least three years, being attested in June 1986, before re-entering the atmosphere. Like its successor UoSAT-2cite journal
