The Refreshments were a rock band from Tempe, Arizona. The band is best known for the witty single "Banditos" from their album "Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy", and also for the theme song to the long-running animated series "King of the Hill". The latter was a piece the band traditionally performed at soundchecks. [ [http://www.citybeat.com/2002-04-18/music.shtml CityBeat: Clyne in the Sand (2002-04-18) ] ]

History

Background

The group was known for its "Southwestern Sound," similar to other bands hailing from Arizona such as the Gin Blossoms and Dead Hot Workshop. The group had two charting singles, both from 1996's "Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy";(These of which were written by Roger Clyne and Dustin Denham) "Banditos" (U.S. Mainstream Rock #11, Modern Rock #14), and "Down Together" (Modern Rock #38). [ [http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:0bfexqwgldke~T5 Billboard Singles] , Allmusic.com] The band split up after releasing their second album, "The Bottle & Fresh Horses", and breaking from Mercury Records.

Current

Rhythm guitarist/lead vocalist/primary songwriter Roger Clyne and drummer Paul "P.H." Naffah regrouped to form Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, and still perform many Refreshments songs in concert.
