The Splinter is a two-seater American supercar concept made of wood. It was created by a team led by Joe Harmon, an industrial designer from North Carolina. There are no plans to mass-produce this vehicle.

Design and implementation

Body

The body is made from a variety of bent and laminated wood veneers giving a target weight of auto lb|2500|0. As of July 9 2008, the body shell has been produced and installed on the chassis. [http://www.joeharmondesign.com/dimensions.html Splinter specifications] from joeharmondesign.com]

Engine

With a projected convert|600|bhp|kW|abbr=on twin-supercharged 4.6L V8 engine, a top speed of auto mph|240|0 has been predicted, although the team have stated that the maximum speed of the vehicle may not be tested.
