Meet the Blacks is the premiere episode of the 6th season of the cable comedy "Curb Your Enthusiasm". It originally aired on HBO on September 9, 2007.

Plot

The episode opens with Larry and Cheryl's sleep getting disrupted by the nagging blare of a smoke detector's "low battery" alarm in the middle of the night. They decide to split up and search the house in order to silence it. Larry follows the ringing and finds that it is the kitchen alarm. Unable to silence or deprogram the detector in any way, Larry retrieves a baseball bat and smashes it to pieces. He and Cheryl head back to sleep.

The next day, Larry is in the golf course locker room with Jeff and Richard Lewis, discussing whether or not they will attend Marty Funkhauser's party the night before Ted Danson's party. Agreeing they don't want to get partied out, they start thinking of excuses not to show up to Marty's that night. Jeff decides he will use his daughter Sammie as an excuse. Larry suddenly comes up with an idea: he will show up to Marty's house the night after his party and act like he got the wrong night. They start watching the television in the corner reporting the trauma of Hurricane Edna. They sympathize and head home.

The next night, despite Cheryl's objections, Larry stops by Marty's on his way to Ted's. She plays along with Larry and they convince Marty that they have showed up on the wrong night by mistake. He understands and invites them in anyway, saying that there are plenty of leftovers. As the Davids engage in awkward conversation with the Funkhausers, Jeff and Susie Green show up. The Greens immediately start using Larry's excuse, much to his annoyance, and get roped into joining the small group. They all sit down at the table and start eating the leftover chocolate cake, while the Greens and the Davids start working on separate excuses to leave. Marty tells them to stop worrying and have fun. He leads them all into the living to play The Newlywed Game.

They couples play together until it comes to the question:" If you could have sex with one of your friends' wives or girlfriends, who would you choose?". Marty says he would have to go with his wife. Larry says he would have to choose Cha Cha, Richard Lewis's girlfriend. Everyone reacts awkwardly including Jeff who claims he was going to say Susie. Larry argues with everyone in typical fashion and leaves with Cheryl, missing Ted's party. Back home, Cheryl is angry about what Larry said and forces him to let them adopt a New Orleans family displaced by the hurricane.

The next evening, they are driving on their way to the airport to pick up a family named the Blacks. Larry decides to stop off for a quick minute at Ted Danson's house and once again they act at though they are one night late. He believes them and invites them in for leftovers with him and his wife Mary Steenburgen, much to their chagrin. They sit and argue about how the car alarms work on the Prius until Richard Lewis shows up with Chacha, using Larry's excuse. Richard is mad at Larry because he heard what he had said about Chacha. Larry finds an excuse to leave and dashes out the door. They show up to the airport to find the Blacks waiting at the baggage claim. The Blacks consist of Auntie Rae, Loretta (Vivica A. Fox), a single mother, and her 2 kids. They head home, discuss rooms and decide to throw a party to introduce them to all of their friends.

A few days later, Larry and Cheryl head to the bakery where Marty had gotten his cake from earlier, having enjoyed it so much. The employee there pulls out the cake for them, which they are surprised to see is in the shape of a giant, black, penis. They look around their surroundings more intently and realise they are in an erotic bakery. They leave without buying the cake.

That night, at the party, everyone is there having a good time, with Richard having forgiven Larry for the problem with Cha Cha. While Larry chats with them, Jeff comes in with a pre-ordered box of the black penis cake. Unaware of the design, he opens up the box, horrifying the children.

After everyone has left and gone to sleep, Larry stays up at midnight eating the cake. Loretta comes down, smoking a cigarette and tells Larry that everything is fine, although she appears to be passively angry at Larry. Larry tries to explain the entire situation a few hours before, with the cake sticking to his mouth and making it hard for him to appear serious. He also requests that she doesn't smoke inside the house, in response to which she puts her cigarette out in his slice of cake and heads to bed. He throws his plate of cake in the garbage and gets to bed as well. While everyone is asleep, however, the cigarette lights the garbage and sets the house on fire. Everyone gets out safely but the house is ruined. The next morning they stand on their lawn watching the firemen attempt to salvage furniture, while Ted Danson shows up a day late for their party.
