- Cafe Hoop
Cafe Hoop is a cooperative, student-run coffee shop at
Wellesley College .History
In 1981, the student body at Wellesley allocated $10,000 to reclaim an abandoned pottery workshop in the basement of the student center. This became the site for Cafe Hoop, named after the longstanding Seven Sisters tradition of
hoop rolling . The Hoop moved into its current location after the 2005 construction of a new student center. It occupies an important role as one of few late-night dining options on campus, open from 3PM-1AM.BDOC
During the annual Dyke Ball party thrown by the campus
LGBTQ organization (Spectrum), the Hoop counts student votes and selects a winner to receive the "Big Dyke On Campus" award.Kiss a Hoopie
During the Hoop's annual fundraiser, also held during Dyke Ball, one can "purchase" a kiss from a Hoop employee for $1.
Menu
The main food product sold in the Hoop,
nachos , are served with melted cheese and a variety of available sides and toppings. Other menu options includecroissants ,pizza bagel s,hummus plates, and a variety of candy. All of the Hoop's coffee and tea options arefair trade .
