Dr. Donald C. Dafoe graduated from Appleton West High School in 1967. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He got his degree in Zoology. At the time there was no pre-med major. He is now an American transplant surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he is the director of the Pancreas Transplantation, Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program and Director of Surgical Education,[1] and holds the Eris M. Field Endowed Chair in Diabetes Research. He was previously medical director for the California Transplant Donor Network. He has written over 160 peer-reviewed articles and he has been on the editorial board for the journals Journal of Surgical Research, The Chimera, and Transplantation Science.
He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is the brother of actor Willem Dafoe and social historian Barbara Dafoe Whitehead.
