16 April 1862 and educated at Rugby andChrist Church, Oxford , [The Times , Saturday, Oct 24, 1885; pg. 6; Issue 31586; col D "University Intelligence Oxford, Oct. 23."] , he wasordained in 1886 and began a career in education. He was successively an assistant master atClifton College , aHousemaster at Harrow and finallyPrincipal of King William's College, Isle of Man .
