United Nations Human Rights Educational Project

The United Nations Human Rights Educational Project (UNHREP) is a United Nations

It was founded in 2002 by the late United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Sergio Vieira de Mello. Between years 2002 and 2004 UNHREP was headquartered in Hamilton, New Zealand. In year 2004, however, UNHREP moved out of New Zealand to become a global Human Rights institution holding offices worldwide. To reflect the change the project was renamed from "UNHREP–New Zealand" to "UNHREP–Global."

Its mission was broadened at that time: UNHREP became an International Relations and Human Rights Institution, which serves the purpose of addressing human rights violations whenever and wherever they happen. Additionally, UNHREP offers International Relations and Human Rights training to international and national civil servants globally.
