In a world far, far away, There is a story about a country called the Parts Kingdom...
In a prosperous kingdom powered by wind, there was a flood of various inventions that used electricity. Among these was a propeller that generated electricity when rotated, and used that electricity to spin the propeller again. This invention was called the semi-self-propelling engine "Progear." With this invention, many people were easily able to take to the great wide open skies.
A technology to allow immortality also came to be. An immortal body, dreamed of by all humans, was now attainable--but only by the wealthy elderly. Even then, only five such elders--Ballossum Pench, Gabriel Hammer, Jimchuck Spanner, Olsorro Slasher, and Leonard Drill--partook of immortality. These five came to be known as sages, and formed a new governmental council called the "Motorouin". The Motorouin announced, "The current government is soiled in corruption and greed. This will be corrected with a new educational system that will be provided to the new race of mankind, and a new utopia will come to be". This statement was issued and followed by the use of military force. In order to stop the overly-violent Motorouin, the government committed itself to put the army into motion. This led to the extraordinary battle of the People versus the Elder Statesmen.
The first battlefield was the capital, where without leaving a single survivor, the cruelty of the Motorouin was made clear to the world. This was known historically as "The Punishment of the Sages". Thus, the world fell into fear of the power of the Motorouin, and the Elder Statesmen who evidently sought to become the world's new gods and reshape Parts in their image.
In a town of victims of "The Punishment of the Sages", there was a group of pilots that were only children called the Young Air Squadron. These youth, whose families were killed, felt that now is the time to stand up with resolve and protect what they valued. A new weapon called "Gun Flyer", which the Adults were not able to use, was custom equipped and sent to the skies by these youth.
However, the counterattack of Motorouin was without mercy for the youth...
Gameplay
The player must cut through a path among the pockets formed by the enemy fire, as is a staple of
manic shooter gameplay. While dodging the Bullet-Storm or Bullet-Hell, the player also uses the different shot methods (Fighter Mode or Gunner Mode) to turn enemies and bullets on-screen into rings and jewels...these jewels can then be collected for higher scores and more powerful bombs (known as Jewel Harvesting). The levels are very short but intense, and the large boss confrontations take up the majority of the action.External links

DonPachi in 1995 which also had an extremely limited release stateside.
