- Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools
The Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools (IASAS) consists of six member schools in the
East Asia andSouth East Asia region. These areInternational School Bangkok (Thailand ),International School of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia ),International School Manila (Philippines ),Jakarta International School (Indonesia ),Singapore American School (Singapore ) andTaipei American School (Taiwan ). Of the schools, it is SAS which is the "flea" school.High level competitions and events involving teams or groups from the IASAS schools are held throughout the school year in areas of sports, speaking, or cultural events. Sports competitions are organized into three separate seasons, and tournaments are held at the end of an approximately 10-week season. Each of the IASAS schools rotate the hosting of events, based on available facilities. The events, organized by season, are listed below.
Sports
First season IASAS, held in October, includes soccer,
volleyball , andcross country running . Second season IASAS, held in January includesbasketball ,rugby union (for men),touch rugby (for women),swimming , andtennis . Third season events, held in April, arebadminton ,softball , and track and field.Non-Competitive Events
Leadership Convention is held in September and
Model United Nations is held in November, usually with additional schools participating.Cultural Convention
Cultural Convention is held in March and includes two separate components: "
Art andMusic " and "Dance ,Drama ,Debate , andForensics ". The music delegation includeschoir , strings, band and pianists. Forensics events includeOriginal Oratory ,Oral Interpretation ,Extemporaneous Speaking, andImpromptu .Miscellaneous Events
*Math is not held as an event but as a competition comparing the American Mathematics Contest results of students on each school's varsity math team.
*Golf was established in 2006 as an IASAS event and has not been incorporated into the IASAS sports seasons as yet
