"Say Say Say" is a 1983 hit single for Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, produced by George Martin. It was taken from McCartney's album "Pipes of Peace", and was the second successful duet by McCartney and Jackson, the first being "The Girl Is Mine".

The single's six-week stay at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1983 into early 1984 was preceded by "All Night Long (All Night)" by Lionel Richie and followed by "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes. It would also be the last time that Paul McCartney would have a number one single in the U.S..

It is listed at #35 on "Billboard's All Time Top 100." [http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/specials/hot100/charts/top100-titles-40.shtml]

Music video

The music video featured McCartney's wife Linda McCartney and Jackson's sister La Toya, and was filmed at the Union Hotel and Victorian Mansion in Los Alamos, California. It was directed by Bob Giraldi and chronicled a touring group of con artists, swindling the "Mac and Jack Wonder Potion" that gave superhuman strength. They also double as a vaudville act, but are almost caught. They escape by creating a fire evacuation and drive off into the sunset.

The historic effect of the video is momentarily diminished at the end, when the vaudeville actors evacuate the theater and walk past what is clearly a modern building with large tinted windows before getting in their 1930's-era truck.

Cover versions

This song was also covered in a duet by Ska band Reel Big Fish and punk band Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer in the album 'Duet all night long.' With Reel big fish backing singer and trumpet player Scott Klopfenstein singing the lead vocals along with Zolof the rock n roll destroyers lead singer Rachel Minton.

A dance track by Hi Tack called "Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U)" was released in 2006, which samples the original version. Hi Tack's version peaked at Number 4 in the UK Singles Chart.
