- French frigate Embuscade (1790)
The "Embuscade" ("Ambush") was a 32-gun
frigate of theFrench Navy .In 1792, she escorted convoys to and from
Martinique , and ferriedEdmond-Charles Genêt to theUSA . On 31 July 1793, she encountered and fought HMS "Boston".With Van Stabel's squadron she took part in the
Croisière du Grand Hiver .Captured by the British during the Battle of Tory Island in 1797, she was recommissioned into the
Royal Navy as HMS "Ambuscade", and in 1804 she was renamed HMS "Seine". She was eventually broken up in 1813.External links
