Steven Robert "Steve" James (born November 29, 1949 in Coseley, England) is an English former footballer who played at centre-back.

] His first-team debut for the club came on 12 October, 1968 against Liverpool. He scored 4 goals in 161 appearances (including 1 substitute appearance) during his United career before being transferred to York City in January 1976.
