The American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE) is a peer-reviewed journal of agricultural, natural resource, and environmental economics, and rural and community development. Published five times per year, it is the official journal of the American Agricultural Economics Association (AAEA).
The editorial policy of the journal requires that papers have a problem orientation and demonstrate originality and innovation in analysis, methods, or application. Analyses of problems pertinent to research, extension, and teaching are equally encouraged, as well as interdisciplinary research with a significant economic component. The journal also considers review articles that offer a comprehensive and insightful survey of a relevant subject, given the scope of the journal. In addition to being the leading journal in agricultural economics, the journal is widely recognized to rank among the top few journals in environmental economics.
