- Prince of Beloozero
The Prince of Beloozero was the "
kniaz ", theruler or sub-ruler, of thePrincipality of Beloozero , a lordship which lasted over two centuries in the north of what is nowEuropean Russia . Before 1238, it formed part of theprincipality of Rostov , which also included the lands aroundIaroslavl' ,Uglich andUstiug . [Martin, "Medieval Russia", pp. 161-2.] It was detachted from Rostov in 1238 when, following the death ofVasily Konstantinovich ,Prince of Rostov , his younger sonGleb Vasil'kovich took Beloozero while his older sonBoris Vasil'kovich became his successor at Rostov.
