Abdonnasser Mohaimeni

Mohaimeni (or Mohaimani), Abdonnasser (PerB|عبدالنّاصر مهیمنی) was born in Gorgan (Jorjan in Arabic), North Iran, on 27 February 1957. He is a teacher of the English language, and a local journalist. Mohaimeni is married to Sareh Mohaimeni, born in 1957. They have two sons, Ehsan, born in 1990, and Hamed, born in 1992.

Teaching

Mohaimeni owns and manages a private cultural & educational institution by the name of Nasser Language House which he established in 1990, at No 1-1 Sarkhajeh 14 St. Gorgan, Iran, P.C. 4917676384. Telfax 0098-171-2221699.

Mohaimeni has taught English to more than 900 students of various ages, ranging from 7 to 55 years, and of various levels of education. He obtained his Certificate of Proficiency in English from Cambridge University, England, in 1986, while studying and working there. He spent nearly 9 years in Britain (1977-1986) mainly in Leeds, Dundee & London. He made short visits to France, Northern Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands (while staying in Britain), Syria (upon returning home in June 1986) & completed the Haj pilgrimage (visiting Mecca & Medinah in Arabia) in 1987.

Journalism

Six months after returning to Iran from Britain, he joined the local department of state radio & television in Gorgan and worked (from early 1987 to mid 1989) as manager in its different sections, and was also the acting head of the department during the final year of his service there. Mohaimeni is, at present (2005), the president of Golestan Newspapers House (NGO)and is the author (in Persian) of many articles (including serial murders of Iranian political dissidents & intellectuals in mid 1990s) in local & national Iranian daily & weekly newspapers. These articles primarily focus on internal political, social & cultural issues. He is also editor-in-chief of the newly (Feb 2005) established & published Persian weekly newspaper Eqtesad-e Golestan (Golestan Economy, or Golestan Economic Weekly) which has the largest circulation ever recorded in North Iran, and in Gorgan. He is the most successful & probably the best known teacher of conversational & practical English, and local journalist in Gorgan. He translates & speaks English fluently.He has also had many interviews with the international media on the local & internal, social & political affairs.He is regarded, by the provincial people & authorities, as being a local activist.NB Present day Gorgan was called Esterabad or Astarabad until 1937.
