Dureza Grape (Vitis) Species Vitis vinifera Also called Duret, Petite Duret Origin Ardèche, France Dureza is a dark-skinned grape variety from the Ardèche region in France.[1] It has been used for production of red wine, but is hardly grown any more; it is not part of the list of the allowed grape varieties of any French wine appellation, and in 1988 only 1 hectare of Dureza remained, while there were 11 ha in the late 1970s.
Dureza has sometimes been confused with Durif, Peloursin and Syrah.
DNA typing has established that Dureza is the father of the Syrah grape, with Mondeuse Blanche being the mother.[2][3]
Synonyms
Dureza is also known under the synonyms Dure, Duret, Durezza and Petite Duret.[4]
