Vengeance (2003) was the third annual Vengeance professional wrestling pay-per-view event from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It took place on July 27 2003 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado and was the first SmackDown! brand-exclusive pay-per-view.

Background

The main feud heading into Vengeance was between Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar and The Big Show battling for the WWE Championship. It all started at WrestleMania XIX when Angle suffered a broken neck in his match against Lesnar for the WWE Championship. Lesnar also suffered a concussion when he missed a shooting star press onto Angle; however, Lesnar won the WWE Title anyway. Two months later, after Angle had returned from his surgery, he came out and demanded a WWE Championship shot. Lesnar agreed, but Show came out and also demanded a Championship opportunity. Later that night Vince McMahon decided that it would be Lesnar defending the Title against Angle and Show in a triple threat match at Vengeance. Then the remaning weeks leading up to Vengeance they had a series of triple threat matches, which saw Angle pinning Show after an Angle Slam, Lesnar pinning Angle after an F-5 and Show pinning both Angle and Lesnar after a double chokeslam.
