- SeWave
SeWave is a
wave farm project in Nípanin,Faroe Islands . The project is developed by the joint venture of the Scottish wave energy developerWavegen and the Faroe's power company SEV.The feasibility study of the wave farm was conducted in
2002 byEni , SEV and Wavegen. Based on the project findings, in2003 Wavegen and SEV established a joint venture SeWave for the design and building of the wave farm project.cite news | url = http://www.sev.fo/Admin/Public/DWSDownload.aspx?File=Files%2FFiler%2FArsfragreidingar%2FRegnskab2003LS.pdf | title = Annual Report and Financial Statement 2003 | publisher = SEV | format=PDF | date=2004 | accessdate = 2008-02-13] The project bases on the design ofIslay LIMPET , which uses a tunnelled wave plant concept with an oscillating water column device built into the face of a cliff, utilizing an air chamber in order to capture wave energy.cite news | url = http://www.imr.fo/Data/Register/D7DA01D3-FFC7-4FC9-BDE1-DBFFA41B6504/E7A0FB3C-9B4B-4294-9B52-E5AC9016623E/60812F10-1787-4471-BCB0-44CB345924FD.pdf | title = Sustainable energy in the Faroe Islands - the role of hydropower | author=Poul A Mikladal | publisher = BURÐARDYGG EL ORKA | format=PDF | date=2005 | accessdate = 2008-02-13]The model tests, site investigations and design issues were completed by start of
2005 . The wave power plant is expected to be in use by 2010.cite news | url = http://ec.europa.eu/research/energy/pdf/gp/gp_events/ocean_energy/1130_tunnelled_wave_energy_converter_en.pdf | title = Tunnelled Wave Energy Converter.
