Vallakkunnu

Vallakkunnu is a small village in the state of Kerala, India, with a population of around 1000 families. The population contains 60 % Hindu and 40 % Christians. One or two members from 50% of families are in away from the village, working in foreign countries. The people of Vallakkunnu are well educated; the average education of those under 50 years of age is 10th standard.

The village is a residential area, bounded by paddy fields in all sides. There are no other industries, service-oriented firms or schools nearby. There are only chicken stalls, beef stalls, pork stalls and some vegetable/grocery stores. It is cool & calm place for reside, just 5 km to NH47 & 10 km to NH17. The nearest railway station is just 1km ahead. All express & passenger trains have stop at this railway station except Super-Fast Trains.

The Catholic population of Vallakkunnu is in an effort of constructing a church, named after St. Alphonsama. The construction work is on full swing. It is planned to bless the Church on 12th October 2008.
