- Tropical Storm Hanna
The name Hanna/Hannah has been used for three tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean:
* 1959's Hurricane Hannah – a strong storm that was only a threat to shipping.
* 2002's Tropical Storm Hanna – a storm that made landfall in the United States.
* 2008's Hurricane Hanna – Caused over 500 deaths in Haiti before travelling up the east U.S. coast in September 2008.(Hanna is now used on the six-year lists in the Atlantic, where it replaced Hortense.)
The name was also used for one tropical cyclone in the Pacific Ocean:
* 2007's Tropical Storm Lekima - a storm that made landfall in Northern Philippines. This storm was called Hanna by the
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).Additionally, a popular episode of the television series
the Wonderful World of Disney aired in 1962 called Hurricane Hannah; although this was about a fictitious hurricane, it used actual footage from hurricane hunter aircraft of the 1961 stormHurricane Carla .The Disney tween sensation of the second half of the 2000s, Hannah Montana (
Miley Cyrus ) has often been dubbed Hurricane Hannah, most prominently in an October 18, 2007 article inTime Magazine . (It should be noted that this article predated the 2008 storm by that name).
