The Xoom Corporation is a U.S.-based money transfer company headquartered in San Francisco. The company was founded in 2001 and is backed by the venture firms Sequoia Capital [cite web|url=http://www.sequoiacap.com/company/xoom/|title=Sequoia Capital funds XOOM] , New Enterprise Associates and Fidelity Ventures.

Money transfers

Xoom's web-based money transfer service allows individuals to send money from any Internet-enabled computer to friends, family and businesses to 31 countries worldwide. Senders can use PayPal, major credit cards, or have funds withdrawn directly from their bank account to fund the money transfer.

Recipients can receive cash in local currency or US dollars. Xoom.com offers money transfer services to over 30 countries including: Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and Vietnam.

Xoom.com has relationships with several banks and money transfer partners to provide a secure means of sending customer’s money. With these bank and money transfer partners, Xoom.com customers can send money to several thousand pickup locations.

The xoom.com domain was originally held by XOOM, an early dot-com that primarily provided free unlimited space web hosting, similar to GeoCities.
