Hammond Organ player who was born inYoungstown, Ohio . He metDr. Lonnie Smith as a teenager and started playing the B3. He became known in the Jazz/Funk scene in New York City in the mid-1990's. Scone is known in the Jazz world for playing with Alto saxophone playerLou Donaldson and otherSoul Jazz legends includingMelvin Sparks ,Ben Dixon ,George Braith , andJimmy Cobb .Scone began recording
Boogaloo records and Funk 45's for Desco Records andDaptone Records in 1998. TheSugarman Three is led by Saxophonist and Daptone Records co-founder Neal Sugarman. Scone is the driving force behind the Hammond Organ on the Sugarman Three records Sugar's Boogaloo, Soul Donkey (named as one of Top 25 Soul Jazz Records of All Time by Downbeat Magazine), Pure Cane Sugar, and Sweet Spot. The Sugarman 3 records are produced byGrammy Award winningGabriel Roth . Scone with Sugarman 3, often with funk legend,Lee Fields , has performed at Europe's major music festivals includingGlastonbury Festival in the U.K.,Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland,North Sea Jazz Festival in the Netherlands, as well as many others in France, Spain, Italy, Norway, and many more. Sugarman Three and Adam Scone have also recorded withBernard Purdie ,Sharon Jones , and Fred Thomas.In 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2007, Scone was chosen as a Kennedy and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts' Jazz Ambassador, with the
Cultures of Rhythm . This enabled him to bring the organ sound to 24 Countries throughout Africa, South America and throughout the Middle East.Scone joined
Southern rock bandJJ Grey & MOFRO in 2004. Scone's style of rock organ playing can be heard on the bands latestAlligator Records release,Country Ghetto . The band has two previous cd's,Blackwater (rated Best Album of the Decade by Amazon.com) andLochloosa . Adam Scone with MOFRO has played the U.S.'s top music festivals, including,Bonnaroo ,Austin City Limits ,New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival ,Langerado ,Summerfest , to name a few. During Summer 2007,Mofro toured while performing as the opening band for theAllman Brothers Band .Scone has released four solo records. The first, "The Wild New Electric Organ Sounds of Adam Scone" features jazz drumming legend
Ben Dixon , as well as saxophonist Ian Hendrickson-Smith. This debut release is followed by the funky "High As A Rocket" featuring members of the Sugarman 3. "Psychedelic Eye" is an experimental Hammond Organ record full of psychedelic imagery featuring the late great R&B drummerRoger Coles .
