Inga Nielsen (
June 2 1946 –February 10 2008 ) was a Danishsoprano .Inga Nielsen was born in
Holbæk , Denmark and was a child prodigy. She made her first recording at the age of nine singing Danish folk songs and Christmas carols. After finishing her studies inVienna ,Stuttgart andBudapest , she began her career in the opera houses ofGermany andSwitzerland and in 1975 became an ensemble member of the Frankfurt Opera.She was a regular guest performer at the
Vienna State Opera , Milan'sLa Scala ; the Royal Opera,Covent Garden ; and also the opera houses ofMunich ,Hamburg ,Berlin ,Paris ,Zurich ,Barcelona as well asNew York ,Buenos Aires ,Florence andBologna .She was awarded the
Tagea Brandt Rejselegat in 1984. In 1992 Nielsen was appointed Knight of Dannebrog by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Inga Nielsen died at the Gentofte hospital inCopenhagen ofcancer in 2008. She was 61.Links
