United Workers Party (Saint Lucia)

The United Workers Party is a conservative political party in Saint Lucia, led (ad Interim) by Stephenson King.

The UWP won the elections held in Saint Lucia on 11 December 2006, defeating the SLP by 11 seats to 6.

In the previous legislative elections, on December 3, 2001, the party won 36.6 % of popular votes and 3 out of 17 seats. The party was founded by Compton in 1964 and was the governing party on Saint Lucia from 1964 to 1979 and from 1982 to 1997.
