- Truckee Range
The Truckee Range is a
mountain range located in westernNevada in theUnited States . The border between Washoe County and Churchill County runs along the ridge. The ridge runs north-south for approximately 30 miles.The
Fernley Sink is to the south of the range. TheTruckee River runs through the valley to the west of the range. Across that valley is thePah Rah Range . Hot Springs Flat is to the east. To the north, Coyote Canyon separates the Truckee Range from theNightingale Mountains .The principal peaks in the Truckee Range (in order from north to south) are Black Warrior Peak (6338 feet), Juniper Peak (7209 feet) and Two Tips (7074 feet). Black Warrior Peak consists of a steep-sided round-topped peak set on top of a low ridge, which makes it dominate the eastern skyline in the southern
Pyramid Lake area despite its relatively short height.The Truckee Range is criss-crossed by old mining claims, although it currently has no active mines.
Surface runoff from the slopes of this range which drain to theTruckee River has been analyzed by the U.S.EPA using theDSSAM Model .
