John Edward Brown

John Edward Brown was the third Bishop of Cyprus and the Gulf ["Who’s Who 1992" London A&C Black,1991 ISBN0713635142] . Born on 13 July 1930 [Crockford's clerical directory (London, Church House 1995) ISBN 0715180886 ] and educated at "Wintringham Grammar School", Grimsby [ [http://www.alumni.net/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Grimsby/Wintringham_Grammar_School/ Alumni updates] ] and Kelham Theological College he was ordained in 1956 and began what was to be along association with the Middle East by becoming a curate at St. George's Cathedral, Jerusalem and master at the attached school [ [http://www.globalministries.org/mee/me022303.htm Details of School] ] . Returning to England he became a Curate in Reading before 4 years missionary work in Sudan. Back in England he was Vicar of Stewkley, then Rural Dean of Sonning [”Who’s Who 2007 London,A&C Black, 2006 ISBN 9780713672576] . From 1978 until 1987 he was Archdeacon of Berkshire before elevation to the Episcopacy. He served the Church in the Mediterranean for 8 years before retirement to his hometown [Where between 2003 and 2004 he took on the role of Acting Rural Dean until an incumbent could be found "Who's Who" (ibid)] .
