August 22 ,1880 –September 9 ,1948 ) was a Hungarian novelist, playwright, and screenwriter who wrote many films from the early 1920s through the late 1940s. He was born inNagyvárad ,Austria-Hungary (nowOradea ,Romania ) and eventually moved to theUnited Kingdom where he worked as a scenario chief forLondon Film Productions run byAlexander Korda . He died inLondon at the age of 68.In 1929, he was nominated for an
