"U. buntingiana" is endemic toVenezuela , where it is only known from a few locations: the type location inHenri Pittier National Park , one collection on theParaguaná Peninsula , and a few others fromFalcón . It was originally published and described by Peter Taylor in 1975. Its habitat is reported as being mossy trees inmontane forests at altitudes from convert|830|m|ft|0|lk=on to convert|1775|m|ft|0.
