Sanford-Brown Institute - Dallas is a school within the Sanford-Brown Institute campus network. The School was originally based in Irving, Texas and opened in 1992. In March 2001 the campus was moved to Dallas, Texas.

In 2003 Career Education Corporation (CEC) purchased Sanford-Brown Institute.

Programs

The Dallas location of Sanford-Brown Institute offers certificates for cardiovascular technology, medical billing & coding specialist, medical assistant, surgical technology, pharmacy technician, medical office administration and diagnostic medical sonography programs.

Academic credit at Sanford-Brown Institute is measured in semester, quarter or clock hours, dependent on the program. Semester credit hours are determined as follows:
*700 hours of lecture = 1 semester hour credit
*20 hours of laboratory = 1 semester hour credit
*180 hours of clinical/externship = 1 semester hour credit

Admissions

A High School diploma and satisfactory personal interview with school official are required for admission to Sanford-Brown Institute – Dallas.

Accreditation

SBI-Dallas is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award certificates. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at the Dallas campus is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is the accrediting agency for the Programmatic Accreditation of the Medical Assistant and Surgical Technology programs. Sanford-Brown Institute – Dallas is approved for Veterans training in Texas. The Sanford-Brown Institute participates in Workforce Investment Act (WIA) (formerly JTPA—Job Training Partnership Act) and vocational rehabilitation programs. WIA may be available for those who qualify for the program only if funds are available.

Campus

The campus at Sanford-Brown Institute - Dallas includes five classrooms, instructional and imaging laboratories, a computer lab, library, student lounge and SBI administrative offices. The imaging lab is equipped with ultrasound scanners able to perform general and specialized procedures. Additional classroom space is also located nearby at 2998 Stemmons Freeway and includes a medical assistant wet lab, three computer labs and seven lecture rooms.
