Lake Meade, Pennsylvania

Lake Meade is an unincorporated census-designated place in Adams County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,832 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Lake Meade is located at coor dms|39|59|6|N|77|2|48|W|city (39.984958, -77.046734)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.7 km²), of which, 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.1 km²) of it (29.86%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 1,832 people, 653 households, and 543 families residing in the community. The population density was 1,800.4 people per square mile (693.5/km²). There were 760 housing units at an average density of 746.9/sq mi (287.7/km²). The racial makeup of the community was 98.36% White, 0.38% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.15% of the population.

There were 653 households out of which 39.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.3% were married couples living together, 5.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.8% were non-families. 13.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.06.

The population is spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 33.5% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.0 males.

The median income for a household in the community was $63,092, and the median income for a family was $66,638. Males had a median income of $43,750 versus $28,036 for females. The per capita income for the community was $23,229. About 2.2% of families and 2.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under age 18 and 7.7% of those age 65 or over.
