The books themselves can be read in any order and share no internal continuity. However they often reference and foreshadow events in the series. The groups of three novels, when put together, create a linking picture across the spines displaying the team.Peter Anghelides stated that the intended order of the first three novels is as follows, "Another Life", "Slow Decay " then "Border Princes " [cite web

However, series editor Steve Tribe has contradicted this, saying, "Actually, that's not quite right, Peter....The books were originally conceived as following the order Another Life - Slow Decay - Border Princes. But while we were working on them just ahead of printing and publication, that order was changed, for a couple of very important reasons that I won't go into here. So Lee [Binding, who designed the cover art] was told the correct order and indeed used the correct order, which is Another Life - Border Princes - Slow Decay. Of course, I say 'correct order', but it doesn't in all honesty matter which sequence they're read in. There's one very small piece of continuity that runs through them, picked up from Another Life, but no more than that." [cite web
