access = FreeSimpson's Pot is one of two popular pull-through trips into theWest Kingsdale System whose exit isValley Entrance at the base of the hill at the side of the road. (The other similar trip isSwinsto Hole ).A trip through Simpson's consists of a series of short wet pitches, a duck through "Blasted Hole", followed by the 30m high "Slit Pot" before gaining the Kingsdale Master Cave streamway. It is important to leave a short ladder "Roof Tunnel Pitch" down into the streamway from the
Valley Entrance end, or it is very difficult to leave the cave. The water sumps at this point and emerges atKeld Head . An average trip lasts 2-3 hours and is very similar to the sport ofcanyoning , except it requires lights.Somewhere along the route is a blind pit which cavers sometimes get trapped in after having pulled the rope down without checking that there isn't any way on.
