The Labour member of ParliamentRichard Burden was nonetheless returned, albeit with a reduced majority. The constituency is to gain the ward ofKings Norton (currently covered by the constituency ofSelly Oak ) at the next election. Until 1992 the seat was represented by a Conservative MP.The Conservative candidate at the next General Election will be Keely Huxtable.
