Bombay Bicycle Club began at an early age of 15, going first under the name of 'The Canals' before cycling through various aliases until they picked their current one. The line up changed regularly until summer 2006, when Jamie, Jack and Suren welcomed Ed into the band. They started playing gigs at school and at small London venues such as Lark in the Park and Jacksons Lane. The band then entered, and won, the "Road to V" competition which led to them opening

On
16 August 2006 Bombay Bicycle Club were declared on Channel 4 to be winners of theChannel 4 competition "Road to V ", Over 4000 bands competed for the prestigious prize which saw the band open the main stage of the festival at the Chelmsford site on Saturday and open the main stage of the Staffordshire site on Sunday. The bands first single 'Evening/Morning' was released on
4 August 2008 - through Young and Lost Club [ [http://www.youngandlostclub.com/ Young and Lost Club] ] . The single was produced byJim Abbiss and was recorded and mixed by Richard Wilkinson at The Garden, London.
