- Johann Georg Lickl
Johann Georg Lickl (11 April 1769 – 12 May 1843) was an Austrian composer and piano teacher.
Lickl was born in
Korneuburg , andorphan ed as a child. He studied under Witzig, who was the organist at the church ofKorneuberg . He relocated toVienna in 1785 and studied underAlbrechtsberger and Haydn. Later in the 1780s, he became organist at aCarmelite church inLeopoldstadt . He collaborated withEmanuel Schikaneder on a number of "Singspiele " in the 1790s, working in the "Freihaus-Theater auf der Wieden".He wrote operas, a
wind quintet , threestring quartet s [cite web|title=Recorded on the Label Hungaroton.|url=http://www.hungaroton.hu/en/node/2476|accessdate=2008-08-26] , and served as akapellmeister at several churches. From 1807 until his death he was choirmaster at what is nowPécs .
