The Wisconsin Student Nurses Association (WSNA) was started in 1949 and was incorporated in 1983. The principal office is in the city of Madison, Wisconsin.
The WSNA serves as a resource for nursing students. There is a conference twice a year to bring students from all over the state together. At the spring convention, delegates from each school of nursing in the state vote for candidates to serve on the WSNA executive board. Each Wisconsin accredited school of nursing that has a branch of the Student Nurses Association is eligible to have delegates.
The objectives of the WSNA are to assume responsibility for contributing to nursing education in order to provide highest quality health care; to coordinate fundraising activities in order to provide charitable contributions and scholarship funds to promote the nursing profession; and to provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interests and concerns; to aid in the development of the whole person, his/her professional role and his/ her professional responsibility for the health care of people in all walks of life. These objectives shall be unrestricted by considerations of nationality, race, creed, lifestyles, color, gender, or age.
