- Local People Leading
Local People Leading (LPL) is an alliance of national networks and community groups in
Scotland that has been created to campaign for a strong and independent community sector.Claiming that all of Scotland's "political parties agree that the excessive centralisation of state power has damaged local democracy", Local People Leading has two main functions - to promote the work of local people in their communities and to influence national policy development. It was created in January 2007 by an alliance of four national networks: Development Trust Association Scotland, Community Woodlands Association, Community Recycling Network Scotland and Senscot.
LPL has identified thee key areas for action:
* Reviewing and extending the scope of Land Reform Act*Enabling the transfer of public assets into community ownership.
*Putting power in the hands of local communities.
