North Yorkshire , theBoundary Commission for England has recommended only minor changes to the existing Skipton and Ripon constituency.The newly drawn seat is formed from the following electoral wards:
*The Harrogate wards of Bishop Monkton, Kirkby Malzeard, Lower Nidderdale, Mashamshire, Newby, Nidd Valley, Pateley Bridge, Ripon Minster, Ripon Moorside, Ripon Spa, Washburn and WathvaleHistory
The constituency was created in
1983 from the West Riding constituencies of Skipton (constituency created 1885) and Ripon (had sent members to Parliament as a borough in1295 ,1307 and continually since1553 ). The constituency experienced boundary changes in1997 whenBoroughbridge , Aldborough,Dishforth and the immediately surrounding areas were transferred to the new Vale of York constituency.Members of Parliament
