Future Combat Systems Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle

Part of the proposed Future Combat Systems This is one of the family of Manned Ground Vehicle MGV proposed for a lighter and more transportable system in which every member of the family of ground, air, manned, and robotic, systems all report to a network system of systems to allow network centric warfare. It is a system that proposes much but is in trouble with burgoning costs and many questions about the vehicles light weight and vulnerability to anti-armor weapons systems.

The XM1201 Future Combat Systems Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle (RSV) features a suite of advanced sensors to detect, locate, track, classify and automatically identify targets under all climatic conditions, day or night.

Included in this suite are:
* a mast-mounted, long-range optoelectronic infrared sensor
* emitter mapping sensor for radio frequency interception and direction finding
* chemical sensor
* a multifunction radio frequency sensor

The RSV also features the onboard capability to conduct automatic target detection, aided target recognition and level-one sensor fusion. To further enhance the scout's capabilities, the RSV is also equipped with Unattended Ground Sensors, a Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle with various payloads and two unmanned aerial vehicles.
