The Battle of Chingleput was a 1752 battle of the Second Carnatic War between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the the Kingdom of France. About 700 recruits and sepoys under the command of Robert Clive captured the fortress of Chingleput, near Madras, defended by a French garrison of about 40 Europeans and 500 troops.
